About This Place

Located in the vibrant heart of La Jolla, Regents Pizzeria is a must-visit destination for pizza enthusiasts craving an exceptional dining experience. Specializing in both New York and Chicago-style pizzas, this lively spot delivers a masterful blend of classic comfort and inventive flavor that makes every bite memorable.

The menu is a treasure trove of pizza perfection, boasting popular selections like the hearty Mastiff Pig Fry Chicago Pizza—a deep dish indulgence packed with savory richness—and the bright, fresh Margherita Pizza, which sings with the pure flavors of ripe tomatoes, basil, and creamy mozzarella. For those who appreciate variety, the White Pizza BBQ Pizza Vegetaria offers a creative twist, while the BBQ Chicken Pizza brings smoky, tangy notes to your palate. Notably, the Stuffed Pizza and Deep Dish Chicago Style pies stand out for their generous fillings and perfectly baked crusts that create a satisfyingly hearty meal.

But Regents isn’t just about pizza; their appetizers shine just as brightly. The Buffalo Cauliflower delivers a delightful spicy crunch, and the Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders come tempura battered and tossed in vibrant rubs ranging from classic Nashville Hot to fiery Ghost and Scorpion. The Truffle Fries are decadently seasoned, while the Chicken Wings maintain a legendary crispness and flavor balance, perfectly paired with a choice of dipping sauces including ranch, blue cheese, or the house-made Regents Comeback sauce.

Pasta lovers will appreciate the refined selection such as the Lasagna Bolognese, which combines premium Greco pork sausage, wagyu, and certified Angus beef in a luscious marinara base, and the elegantly spiced Fettuccine Alfredo. Fresh salads like the Greek Salad and Caesar Salad provide refreshing contrast alongside these richer dishes.

Adding to its charm, Regents Pizzeria delivers a cozy yet energetic sports bar atmosphere that is both inviting and lively. With ample seating, it’s a fantastic venue to gather with friends or enjoy a casual night out while catching the game on multiple TVs—including those outside on the patio. The environment strikes a perfect balance—vibrant but never overwhelming—making it easy to unwind and savor every bite.

Customers consistently praise Regents for the quality and consistency of the food. Monica Bucks notes a “great experience” paired with “delicious” flavors and an efficient ordering system that makes dining comfortable. Regulars like Ignatius Tee highlight the diverse and rotating specialty pizzas alongside the enduring classics, emphasizing the thoughtful dual offering of New York and Chicago styles. Eric E applauds the attentive service and the care taken to ensure every order, especially the Chicago-style slices, meets high standards despite longer preparation times.

Vegetarian diners also find a standout haven here; Amogh Dave’s glowing review gives a perfect 10 to the deep dish “Popeye” pizza, praising its rich cheese layers and “incredible marinara.” Even Albert K, who celebrated the wings as the best he’s ever had, affirms the entire menu’s appeal with a bustling crowd gathering every evening by 6 PM.

From its expertly crafted, mouthwatering pizzas and shareable appetizers to its approachable yet vibrant ambiance, Regents Pizzeria offers a culinary experience that lingers long after the last slice is gone. Whether you’re a devoted carnivore or a passionate vegetarian, this La Jolla gem invites you to enjoy authentic flavors, warm hospitality, and an atmosphere that keeps guests coming back time and again.

Delicious place and great experience. They have a really great system to order and dine. We ordered there and hanged out until our order was out. Great taste and quality. Everything you need is also in the table. MUST try if your in San Diego!

This pizza place never disappoints. From several specialty options that are constantly rotating to classics that are just a step above the rest, the pizza selections are amazing! It's definitely nice that you get a choice of both New York and Chicago style. There's usually a good amount of seating and it's a bar type environment. TVs outside are always playing some sports games.

Vegetarian 5 Point Review: Taste – 10/10 As a vegetarian who loves deep dish, this place nails it. The Popeye is hands down the best deep dish I’ve ever had. It’s loaded with cheese and topped with incredible marinara. The White (a New York-style slice) was also fantastic. No misses here. Ambience – 9/10 Feels like a cozy sports bar—vibrant, energetic, but not chaotic. A solid spot whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or hanging out. Service – 7/10 Fast and efficient. We had a big order, and everything came out in about 10 minutes. Nothing special, but nothing to complain about either. Value for Money – 10/10 For the portion and quality, it’s a steal. Two hefty slices and a drink came to just over $25 (with tax + tip). That’s great value for the area. Recommendations Go for The White and Popeye. Both are absolute must-haves.

Service A+ Pizza & Salad A+ Atmosphere A+ We’d been wanting to coming here for sometime and they did not disappoint. I’m a little disappointed in myself. My Chicago style slices didn’t come out for quite a while and I walked up assuming and asking if they forgot my order, but they did not. The server, courteous and helpful, checked on my order and informed me Chicago style slices take much more time to heat up. And boy, are they thick and yummy. I didn’t expect a lot from their Yam seasonal offer but it was pretty good. I only wish it was served with a side of turkey and cranberry sauce. Maybe next Thanksgiving. I think the ingredients were Yams (dah), marshmallows, some soft type of soft white cheese (mozzarella?) and it tasted as if it had drizzled honey on it. It was just a great combination of saltiness and sweet flavors. My only suggestion to others is, expect a +20 min. wait for them to heat up their Chicago style slices, and maybe have them time the other orders in your party so you all can eat together. Their New York slices and salads don’t disappoint either. Don’t hesitate, this place is great! *they validate your parking stub so parking becomes free.

Best wings I’ve had. The flavor and crisp! Great pizza here as well. Pesto pasta was good, just not as good as the wings and pizza. Very popular spot. Got insanely crowded by 6.

Decided to stop by after class for some pizza and were recommended to come try this place out. Great tasting pizza that reminded me of the thin crusts of NYC slices. We saw that they had the Chicago deep dish slices as well. Will definitely be back !

Bustling with patrons on a Thursday evening still allowed for immediate ordering at the side counter if not purchasing alcohol. Pro tip: order two slices for immediate goodness while awaiting the 45 minutes for your Chicago style pie to reach the table. Fantastic crusts on both thin and deep dish pizzas. Zesty and savory sauce and toppings. Patio and indoor seating available. During busy hours, come prepared for loud volume from all the lively discussions, but pleasant and delicious experience all around. Parking lot in front of restaurant is a paid lot. Memorably good pizza.

I kid you not this is the best pizza I ever had. BEST PIZZA IN SAN DIEGO! I got a deep dish pizza for the first time and it was so amazing. The dry rub wings were delicious and the buttery bread they served us was so soft and moist with butter and perfectly warm. I’m definitely coming back to this place. Our server was very nice it was his first week on the job and he did great! EVERYONE was so nice and friendly.
